HIV/AIDS Care and Counselling
(Capacity Building Course)

Introduction
HIV/AIDS remains a significant public health
challenge globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Effective
care and counselling are essential for prevention, treatment adherence, and
psychosocial support of those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
This training course provides comprehensive
knowledge and practical skills for healthcare providers, counsellors, social
workers, and community-based personnel to offer high-quality HIV/AIDS care and
counselling services, reduce stigma, and promote public health outcomes.

Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will:
- Understand
the medical, psychological, and social aspects of HIV/AIDS
- Provide
accurate HIV/AIDS information and testing support
- Offer
effective pre-test and post-test counselling
- Support
adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART)
- Address
stigma, discrimination, and ethical issues in HIV care
- Provide
psychosocial support to individuals, families, and affected communities

Awarded upon:
- Successful
completion of practical simulations and the capstone project
- Demonstrated
application of counselling principles
- Passing
a final written or oral assessment
Certification may be endorsed by national health
authorities, NGOs, academic institutions, or international organizations (e.g.,
UNAIDS, WHO, Global Fund).
