Research Methods in Agricultural
and Rural Management
1.
INTRODUCTION
Agricultural and rural management research plays a
vital role in informing policy, improving program design, and enhancing
productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector. Sound research
methods enable practitioners and scholars to collect, analyze, and interpret
data effectively, leading to evidence-based decision-making.
This training program is designed to build the
research competencies of agricultural and rural development professionals,
focusing on practical approaches to designing studies, managing data, analyzing
results, and applying findings to real-world agricultural and rural management
contexts. Participants will gain a solid understanding of both qualitative and
quantitative research methods relevant to agriculture, agribusiness, and rural
development.

participants’ knowledge of research design, methodology, and data analysis
in agricultural and rural management.
- Equip
participants with skills to plan, conduct, and manage research projects
effectively.
- Enhance
competencies in data collection, statistical analysis, and report writing.
- Promote
the use of research for policy formulation, program evaluation, and
decision-making.
- Introduce
participants to modern digital tools and software for research and
analysis.
- Foster
ethical, participatory, and gender-sensitive approaches to agricultural
and rural research.
